Coffee Hour with Dean Nasr

November 27, 2017

The school's Student Government Association (SGA) hosted a coffee hour with Dean Vali Nasr, providing a valuable opportunity to exchange ideas with students on matters regarding politics, community outreach, curriculum, faculty, and potential career paths after graduation.

Dean Nasr answered several questions about the long-term strategy of the school, in terms of its educational future and commitment to excellence. Dean Nasr discussed the school's investment in hiring faculty in strategic areas of importance and the expanded programming made possible by the recently-launched Henry A. Kissinger Center for Global Affairs.

Furthermore, Dean Nasr shared details about the school's international presence and how its global reach is being enhanced through cooperative degree programs with other leading schools. These agreements allow Johns Hopkins SAIS students to study in additional locations that are vital to their individual career interests, Dean Nasr said.

When planning career paths, Dean Nasr emphasized the importance of building flexibility into your plan to maximize the number and types of opportunities you can pursue. Lastly, Dean Nasr compared Johns Hopkins SAIS degrees to MBAs and other graduate degrees, noting the competitiveness of the school's alumni in the job market and the career-building edge represented by the school's global network of more than 19,000 talented professionals in all sectors of employment.
