Keep Teaching, Learning & Working
Johns Hopkins SAIS has put resources and measures in place to ensure continuity of teaching until in-person classes can resume. Students will continue to have access to faculty, staff, peers, and learning resources. The only difference is that we will gather for lectures and meetings virtually, share course content and resources digitally, and communicate with one another using a variety of media applications – supported and provided by the school.
In the sections below, you can find resources and guidance to assist you in continuing to teach your courses and perform your job function.
Do I need an account to use Zoom?
Yes, in order to create and manage a Zoom meeting for your course(s), you will need to have a university-sponsored “Licensed” account. However, your students do not need accounts to attend your class meetings. How to I acquire a Licensed Zoom account?
There is an $8.88/month fee associated with a licensed Zoom account, so contact the staff/coordinator for your academic program before you sign up for your account. They will be able to provide you with the cost center information you’ll need to complete your registration. They may also be able to create an account on your behalf. When ready, sign up for your Zoom account at the university’s IT Services Catalog. When asked “Which Zoom resources are you requesting?” select Zoom User Account(s) from the drop menu. Complete the rest of the form as instructed. Your new account should be ready within 24 hours.
You may downgrade to a free “Basic” account or cancel the account at any time. Note: Basic accounts will only allow you to host sessions for a maximum of 40 minutes.
