The Kill Chain: An Interview with Christian Brose ('13)

May 22, 2020 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

Join Director of Strategic Studies Professor Mara Karlin as she interviews SAIS alum Chris Brose on his new book, "The Kill Chain: Defending America in the Future of High-Tech Warfare." Brose argues that America is at grave risk of losing a future war. This fascinating book confronts the existential risks on the horizon, charting a way for America’s military to adapt and succeed with new thinking as well as new technology. America must build a battle network of systems that enables human operators to rapidly understand threats, make decisions, and take military actions, the process known as “the kill chain.” Examining threats from China, Russia, and elsewhere, The Kill Chain offers hope and, ultimately, insights on how America can apply advanced technologies to prevent war, deter aggression, and maintain peace.

Brose is the Chief Strategy Officer of Anduril Industries and a Senior Fellow at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. He previously served as the staff director of the Senate Armed Services Committee, a senior policy adviser to Senator John McCain, and as the chief speechwriter to Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.
