Book Pickup Service

Starting Monday, June 29, books and other materials from the Johns Hopkins Libraries may be requested for pickup. All materials for both the Johns Hopkins SAIS and the Washington Library Resource Center can be picked up at Mason Library at Johns Hopkins SAIS in Washington DC.

At this time, pickup service is available for current Johns Hopkins affiliates: students, faculty, and staff.

How to Request Books

  1. Log in to Catalyst, the online catalog, using your JHED credentials.
  2. Request materials by selecting the “Request Pickup” button and indicating your preferred pick up location. Only books owned by the Johns Hopkins Libraries are eligible.
  3. We will find and prepare the materials for contact-free pickup. Please note the turnaround time may be longer than usual.
  4. When your materials are ready, we will notify you by email.

How to Pick Up Your Books at Mason Library

  • Books may be picked up between 10:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays from the Johns Hopkins SAIS Nitze Building Lobby, 1740 Massachusetts Ave., NW.
  • Enter the building, show your JCARD or government-issued photo ID to the guard and locate the bag(s) with your name on a book cart in the lobby, then leave through the front exit.

Safety Guidelines

  • Masks and social distancing are required on campus.
  • Library materials will be quarantined for 24 hours between users.

Book Return

For users who have library materials at home, due dates have been extended to September 30, 2020. We ask that you keep those materials in your possession until we reopen. If you are relocating or have special circumstances, please contact Library staff at
