Alumni Access to Mason Library

The Johns Hopkins University Libraries offer resources for its alumni, ranging from access to Library spaces to free borrower accounts. New graduates retain their off-campus access to the full range of databases for six months after graduation.

Alumni are welcome to visit the Mason Library in Washington, DC. In-library privileges, such as seating, are prioritized for current Johns Hopkins affiliates.

Direct questions about access, including obtaining a Visitor Pass, to saislibrary@jhu.edu. You can also call +1 (202) 663-5900.

JHU Alumni are eligible for free borrower accounts. To request privileges, email saislibrary@jhu.edu.

Alumni borrowing has a 50 book maximum and does not include Interlibrary Loan, Borrow Direct or access to some e-book collections.

Johns Hopkins SAIS alumni are welcome to use JH Libraries databases in the Mason Library. Due to licensing restrictions, off-campus access to the full range of databases ceases six months after graduation.

The Johns Hopkins Alumni Association and the Johns Hopkins University Libraries have partnered to create Hopkins KnowledgeNET (HKNET), which offers alumni free access to some full-text academic journals and other resources.

Set up your KnowledgeNET access.

JPASS offers access to more than 2,000 JSTOR journal titles that publishers have made available to alumni. Monthly and annual fee options available.

Graduates who would like to continue using RefWorks can change to an alumni account (instructions). RefWorks allows Johns Hopkins alumni to keep their accounts for their lifetimes.

You can also export your references to another citation manager or, if you do not intend to use RefWorks in the future, do nothing. The information and your ability to access it will disappear when your JHED account expires.
