Ana Isabel Delgado previously taught Portuguese at Stanford University and taught English as a Foreign Language and Portuguese at the Instituto Brasil-Estados Unidos in Rio, Brazil, her native country. She also previously taught English composition to English as a Second Language students at University of Alabama. She served as the director of the 2010 Lauder-Wharton Portuguese Summer Immersion Program, and is the current Chair of the ACTFL Portuguese Special Interest Group. She is certified as a Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages trainer with the School for International Training and has trained teachers in Brazil, Costa Rica and Spain. Her areas of interest include vocabulary acquisition, learner autonomy and interdependence, reflective practice, and material design for both English and Portuguese learners. She received an MA in TESOL from the University of Alabama.
