Professor Kristina Spohr’s book named top ten in Germany

The German edition of Helmut Schmidt Distinguished Visiting Professor Dr. Kristina Spohr’s newest book, Post Wall, Post Square: Rebuilding the World After 1989, has been voted one of November 2019’s Best Non-fiction books in Germany. Professor Spohr’s book is available for pre-order from Yale University Press.
In her book, Dr. Spohr draws on recently declassified archival sources to provide a new perspective on how the European order emerged after the collapse of the Soviet Union and the unification of Germany. She furthers historians' understanding of how dynamics in Berlin and Moscow contrasted with Beijing’s suppression of democracy and illuminates how the past shapes our contemporary world of Putin, Trump and Xi.
