Biography
Dr. Iren Marinova is a Deutsche Akademischer Austauschdienst (DAAD) Postdoctoral Fellow at the Henry A. Kissinger Center for Global Affairs at the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS). Her project focuses on the theme “The United States, Europe and World Order” and explores the impacts and constraints of the transatlantic relationship between the United States and the European Union in a historical perspective for the development and outlook of European security, defense, and grand strategy. She earned her Ph.D. in political science from Colorado State University. Her research encompasses the study of the European Union and its ambitions in global politics, as well as topics in foreign policy (including climate foreign policy), security, geopolitics, and transatlantic relations.
Dr. Marinova is a Global Fellow with the Wilson Center’s Global Europe Program. She is also a member of the Younger Generation Leaders Network through the European Leadership Network (ELN), a group of emerging leaders in the transatlantic region with a focus on fostering dialogue on the most pressing issues in the Euro-Atlantic security space.
At Colorado State University, she was part of a research team working on a project funded by the Carnegie Corporation of New York and studying the effects and opportunity costs of American foreign policy at the state and county levels in the United States.
