Best Research Article on U.S. Foreign Policy and Grand Strategy
Winner of the Best Research Article on U.S. Foreign Policy and Grand Strategy is Dan Altman for his article, “The Evolution of Territorial Conquest After 1945 and the Limits of the Territorial Integrity Norm” appearing in International Organization.
Dan Altman is an Assistant Professor of Political Science at Georgia State University. His research examines issues of international security, including territorial conquest, the fait accompli, red lines, coercion, and the causes of war.
Runner-up for the Best Research Article on U.S. Foreign Policy and Grand Strategy is Fiona Cunningham for her article, “The Maritime Rung on the Escalation Ladder: Naval Blockades in a US-China Conflict” appearing in Security Studies.
Fiona Cunningham is Assistant Professor of Political Science at the University of Pennsylvania. Her research focuses on international security, technology, and China.

Lupton is an Associate Professor of Political Science at Colgate University and the author of Reputation for Resolve: How Leaders Signal Determination in International Politics (Cornell University Press, 2020). Her research explores the impact of political elites and world leaders on international security, US foreign policy, and civil-military relations.
