FSF 2020: Covid-19 and Grand Strategy - June 3

The Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) and the Henry A. Kissinger Center for Global Affairs at Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) hosted a panel on Grand Strategy as part of the 2020 Future Strategy Forum, an initiative to connect scholars who research national security with its leading practitioners. Future Strategy Forum: Cooperation and Conflict in the Time of Covid-19 also featured a virtual keynote discussion with the Hon. Michèle Flournoy on June 2nd.

Covid-19 and Grand Strategy explored how and why this pandemic might change how the United States approaches its foreign policy, relations with allies and competitors, and the balance between domestic need and national security priorities. Panelists included Dr. Kori Schake, Dr. Mira Rapp-Hooper and Dr. Jennifer Bouey and was moderated by Beverly Kirk. Discussion focused on the changing nature of the international system, challenges to the world order, and the impact of Covid-19 and the racial unrest in the United States on its global leadership.
