On April 11, 2024, former IPSCON junior scholar and current Senior Advisor for Economic and National Security at the U.S. Department of Commerce Aroop Mukharji met virtually with junior scholars in our International Policy Scholars Consortium and Network for the second Carnegie Squares session of the Spring 2024 semester. The group discussed Mukharji's career in government and his scholarly experiences before that.

On February 22, 2024, Kissinger Center Peterson Senior Fellow and former National Security Adviser to the Prime Minister of India Shivshankar Menon met virtually with junior scholars in our International Policy Scholars Consortium and Network for the first Carnegie Squares session of the Spring 2024 semester. The group discussed Menon's career in India's government, India’s rise, and its relations with the US and China.
Crisis Simulation: The U.S, China, and the South China Sea
Tensions are rising in the Pacific. For more than a decade, the South China Sea has been a major flashpoint in US-China relations. This half-day exercise will simulate a major US-China military confrontation emerging from events there. Students will role-play national security policymakers and advisors, immersing themselves in the military, legal, diplomatic, intelligence, and economic realms to diagnose a flash crisis and then find a way out. Students will work to address time sensitive policy decisions, process and disseminate important information, and achieve interagency coordination.
