Ambassador to Greece Nicholas Burns to Speak at JHU SAIS
Nicholas Burns, U.S. Ambassador to Greece, will speak at the Johns Hopkins University Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) on Wednesday, 10/28/1998, at 6 p.m.
Ambassador Burns' lecture topic will be "U.S. Foreign Policy: Bosnia, Kosovo, Turkey, and the Role of Greece in Southern Europe."
A 1980 graduate of SAIS, Ambassador Burns is a career Foreign Service Officer. He previously served as the State Department's Spokesman and Acting Assistant Secretary of Public Affairs for Secretary of State Warren Christopher and Secretary Madeleine Albright from 1995 to 1997.
From 1990 to 1995, Ambassador Burns served on the National Security Council staff at the White House and was Special Assistant to President Clinton and Senior Director for Russia, Ukraine and Eurasia Affairs. Under President Bush, he was the Presidential Advisor on Greece, Turkey and Cyprus.
The lecture, part of SAIS's European lecture series, will be held in the Rome Auditorium, located on the first floor of the Rome Building, 1619 Massachusetts Ave., N.W., Washington, D.C.
