JHU Provost Lloyd Minor to Speak on Future of American Research Universities at SAIS

Lloyd Minor, provost and senior vice president for academic affairs of The Johns Hopkins University (JHU), will speak at JHU’s Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) on Thursday, March 3 at 5:30 p.m.

Minor, also a widely respected surgeon and scientist, will address “At What Cost? Charting the Future of the American Research University.”

Research universities create a critical competitive edge for future prosperity—and more and more countries around the world are willing to spend freely for those benefits. Here in the United States, with a spending-constrained economy, how will this new competition challenge the nation’s undisputed leadership in higher education? Minor will offer insights into what lies ahead for American’s universities.

The event will be held in Kenney Auditorium located on the first floor of the school’s Nitze Building, 1740 Massachusetts Ave., N.W., Washington, D.C. Members of the public should RSVP to 202.663.5848 or [email protected].

SAIS will host a live webcast of the event accessible at www.sais-jhu.edu.

Members of the media who plan to cover the event should respond to Felisa Neuringer Klubes at the SAIS Communications Office at202.663.5626 or [email protected].
