JHU SAIS to Hold Forum on U.S. Government Response to Failed States
The Johns Hopkins University Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) and the Center for Global Development will co-host a forum, "Addressing State Failure: The Evolving U.S. Government Response," on Thursday, April 6 from 1 to 6 p.m.
Participants and panel sessions include:
1 p.m. - Welcome and introductory remarks by Francis Fukuyama, director of the SAIS International Development Program, and Stewart Patrick, Center for Global Development research fellow and SAIS professorial lecturer
1:30-3 p.m. - Panel 1: "U.S. Strategic Responses to State Failure"
- Douglas Menarchik, assistant administrator for policy and program coordination at USAID
- Jeffrey Nadaner, deputy assistant secretary of Defense for Special Operations and Low-Intensity Conflict
- Stewart Patrick
- Marcia Wong, deputy coordinator for reconstruction and stabilization at the U.S. State Department
