JHU SAIS to Host Conference on Development Effectiveness

The Johns Hopkins Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) will hold a daylong conference, "Development Effectiveness: The New Challenges," on Thursday, 10/24 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The conference, hosted by the Swiss Foundation for World Affairs, will feature the opening address by Jorge F. Quiroga, the former president of Bolivia, at 9:15 a.m. The afternoon session will commence with the keynote address by James D. Wolfensohn, President of The World Bank Group.

Expert panelists from academia, government agencies, think tanks, journalism and nonprofit organizations will speak throughout the day during the following sessions.

9 a.m. Welcoming Remarks

9:15 a.m. Opening Address by Jorge Quiroga

10 a.m. The Quest for Development Effectiveness

11:15 a.m. Best Practices in Development Effectiveness

1:15 p.m. Keynote Address by James D. Wolfenson

4:45 p.m. Closing Remarks

The conference, free and open to the public, will be held in the Kenney Auditorium, first floor of the SAIS Nitze Building at 1740 Massachusetts Ave. N.W., Washington, D.C. Members of the public must register to attend the conference by e-mailing [email protected] or calling 202.663.5942.
