JHU SAIS to Host Conference on Forging a Transatlantic Consensus on Russia
Sen. John McCain and Rep. Mike Turner Are Featured Keynotes
The Johns Hopkins Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) will hold a one-day conference, “Forging a Transatlantic Consensus on Russia: Recommendations for Action” on Friday, December 10 from 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) will give the opening keynote address on “Realism About Russia: Power, Interests and Values in U.S. Policy” at 8:30 a.m., and Rep. Mike Turner (R-Ohio) will give the luncheon keynote address at 1:30 p.m. at this conference hosted by the Center for Transatlantic Relations at SAIS and the Institute for Eastern Studies.
Other featured speakers included György Gordon Bajnai, former Hungarian prime minister, and Rose Gottemoeller, assistant secretary of State for the Bureau of Arms Control and chief U.S. negotiator for the new START Treaty. Experts from government, international organizations, think tanks, academia and media will speak throughout the day in the following sessions:

4:30 p.m.* Panel 5: “Central Europe and the Transatlantic Consensus: A Bridge or an Obstacle?”
6 p.m.* Closing keynote address by Rose Gottemoeller
