JHU SAIS to Host Forum on Democracy in Kazakhstan

The Johns Hopkins University Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) will hold a forum, "Kazakhstan's Record on Democracy," on Tuesday, 07/17 at 5 p.m.

Panelists for this event, sponsored by the Central Asia-Caucasus Institute at SAIS, include:

· Azat Peruashev, first secretary of the Civil Party of Kazakhstan

· Raushan B. Sarsenbayeva, chairwoman of the Democratic Party of Kazakhstan and president of the Association of Business Women of Kazakhstan

· Rabbi Cohen Yeshay, chief rabbi of Kazakhstan

· Oleg I. Rubets, spiritual leader of the Islamic Society "Al-Madina" and chairman of the Eurasia Inter-Confessional Peacekeeping Center

· Umirzak A. Aitbayev, first vice president of the International Society "Kazak Tili"

· Oleg V. Kviatkovski, director of Kazak TV station "Channel 31"

· Sergey V. Kharchenko, editor-in-chief of the newspaper Kostanai News
