JHU SAIS to Host Forum on Global Food Security Index

The Johns Hopkins University Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) will host a forum on “The Global Food Security Index” on Tuesday, April 30 at 12:30 p.m. (Lunch will precede the forum at noon.)
 
This forum will present diverse expert perspectives and highlight a new, interactive tool that measures the key drivers of food security in 105 countries. Developed by the Economist Intelligence Unit and commissioned by DuPont, the Global Food Security Index assesses the magnitude of food security issues and sets realistic and sustainable goals to address them. 
 
Leo Abruzzese, editorial director of the Economist Intelligence Unit, and Paul Schickler, president of DuPont Pioneer, will be the featured speakers. Their presentations will be followed by a discussion with the following panelists:
 
·         Robert Thompson (moderator), visiting scholar in the SAIS Energy, Resources and Environment and International Development programs
·         Walter Andersen, acting director of the SAIS South Asia Studies Program
·         Deborah Bräutigam, director of the SAIS International Development Program
·         Pieter Bottelier, SAIS senior adjunct professor of China Studies
·         Francisco González, the Riordan Roett Senior Associate Professor of Latin American Studies at SAIS
  
The event, which is free and open to the public, will be held in Kenney Auditorium located on the first floor of the school’s Nitze Building, 1740 Massachusetts Ave., N.W., Washington, D.C. Members of the public should RSVP to http://globalfoodsecurity.eventbrite.com.
