JHU SAIS to Host Forum on Women and Globalization
The Johns Hopkins University Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) will host a forum, "Women Shaping Globalization: A New Feminism for the 21st Century," on Tuesday, 02/13 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.
The event, co-sponsored by the Women's Learning Partnership for Rights, Development, and Peace, will feature an international panel of women leaders who will examine ways of improving the status of women worldwide in light of the achievements of the women's movement in the last decades of the 20th century.
Panelists include:
· Zenebeworke Tadesse - (Ethiopia) development specialist throughout Africa
· Angela Blackwell - (U.S.) founder and president of PolicyLink
· Azar Nafisi - (Iran/U.S.) visiting scholar at the SAIS Foreign Policy Institute
· Jacqueline Pitanguy - (Brazil) founder and director of Cidadaria, Estudo, Pesquisa, Informacao e Acao (CEPIA)
· Mahnaz Afkhami - (Iran/U.S.) founder and president of the Women's Learning Partnership and former minister of State for Women's Affairs in Iran
