JHU SAIS to Host Third Global Conference on Women in the Boardroom

The Johns Hopkins University Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) will hold its third “Global Conference on Women in the Boardroom” on Thursday, September 20 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m.

The conference, hosted by the SAIS Center for Transatlantic Relations, will assemble senior corporate executives, government officials and corporate stakeholders worldwide to highlight initiatives around the globe to achieve gender parity on corporate boards. Elisse B. Walter, a commissioner of the Securities and Exchange Commission, will give the conference’s keynote address at approximately 9:10 a.m. Her address will be followed by discussions with experts from the United Kingdom, Australia, Italy, the European Union and Malaysia. Also featured are business leaders of companies that have championed gender diversity, and three international alliances of CEOs and board chairmen formed to advocate for more women on boards.  

Board chairs and CEOs participating in the conference include Stephen Fitzgerald, retired chairman and CEO of Goldman Sachs-Australia; Joseph Keefe, president and CEO of PAX World Investments; Barbara Krumsiek, chair and CEO of Calvert Investments, Inc.; Shelly Lazarus, chairman emeritus of Ogilvy & Mather; Bill McCracken, CEO of CA Technologies; Shireen Muhiudeen, managing director of Corston-Smith Asset Management, Malaysia; Jim Murren, chairman and CEO of MGM Resorts International; Jane Shaw, retired chairman of Intel Corp; and Mark Weinberger, chairman and CEO-elect of Ernst & Young.
