Christian A. Herter Society

The legacy of Christian Herter — former U.S. secretary of state and co-founder of Johns Hopkins SAIS — has inspired thousands of students and alumni to address the most pressing challenges in international relations. 

We recognize and celebrate his lasting imprint by honoring individuals who contribute $2,500 or more in support of the mission and goals of the school. Christian Herter Society (CHS) members are highlighted at select school events.

Membership Levels

There are four CHS levels:

Member: $2,500 - $4,999
Partner: $5,000 - $9,999
Global Leader: $10,000 - $24,999
Ambassador: $25,000+

Young Alumni

Young alumni (0-9 years after graduation) are also recognized as members of CHS when they make annual gifts of $1,000, or $84 a month.

CHS and the Dean's Circle

For those who give $100,000 or more annually, they will also receive the unique designation of Dean’s Circle members.
