2018 Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition

In February 2018, Johns Hopkins SAIS students Ángel Perez Cortes, ’19, Katherine Krudys ’18, Daniel Moon ’18, Jingran Wang, ’19, and Patrick Yunpeng Xiong ’18 participated in the Mid-Atlantic Regional Round of the Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition. The team, who was coached by International Law and Organizations Adjunct Professor Steven Schneebaum finished 5^th in the preliminary rounds to reach the quarterfinals. The team also won 4^th place for best memorials and Daniel Moon won 5^th place for best oralist.

This year’s theme presented questions about the validity of interstate arbitral awards, the breach of nuclear disarmament obligations, the capture of a marine vessel, and the conduct of naval warfare.

Johns Hopkins SAIS was the only non-law school in the competition. It is the 28th year that the school has participated in Jessup, under the guidance of Professor Schneebaum.
