Kristofer always knew it would be a challenge to land a career opportunity in Investment Banking. After beginning his graduate studies at Johns Hopkins SAIS, however, with the support of the school’s Career Services, he was able to make his dream a reality.

Next summer Kristofer will be joining one of the world's top Bulge Bracket Investment Banks as a Summer Analyst. While the journey to get to this point was arduous, throughout the recruiting process he tapped several resources from Career Services, which facilitated his success.

One of the resources included pairing Kristofer with an alumni mentor throughout his application cycle. Another involved consultations with one of the school’s Career Coaches, who oversaw banking, and provided him the opportunity to fine-tune his resume.

Through these consultations, Kristofer learned more about the best ways to communicate with alumni and network at his target firms. Going above and beyond, his career coach utilized their network to provide him with valuable connections. Furthermore, he was offered the opportunity to participate in mock interviews, which strongly prepared him for his official interviews.

As Kristofer began applying to companies, this preparation paid off. He was invited to interview with several of the world's largest and most well known banks, and he received multiple job offers before signing an offer with his top choice.

Although Kristofer faced an initial uphill battle breaking into field of Finance, Career Services went above and beyond to help him achieve his goals. Throughout the process, he felt encouraged and supported, and he is grateful to have had this opportunity which was greatly facilitated by the mentorship provided from Career Services.
