Building My Network

As an international student from China, Arthur always enjoyed exploring the connections among international relations, media, and technology, especially between the US and China. He eventually reached the point where he was looking to advance his career, and SAIS became the obvious choice for him in terms of its curriculums, location, and alumni network.

Now a student at SAIS, Arthur has had enriching experiences both in and out of the classroom. He has been an ample participant of the school’s career treks, including the Asia Finance trek, DC Energy trek and New York Finance trek (which he coordinated). Each trek has enabled him to build his network with the school’s alumni from Washington DC to Hong Kong. He was also given the opportunity to moderate an Impact Investing Fireside Chat with the school’s alumni Loren Rodwin 90 and Anthony Randazzo 95 at US International Development Finance Corporation (DFC).

During his graduate studies, Arthur also served as the VP of the SAIS International Finance Club; an assistant editor of the SAIS Review Podcast The Looking Glass; a co-founder and host of his own show Passionator Podcast; and has worked as a researcher at Glacier Media Group, a publicly-listed media company in Canada. He also enjoys the China Studies Happy Hours every Friday afternoon!

In the classroom, Arthur has been grateful to work with talented classmates who he describes as ‘smart, mature, respectful and like-minded.’ One recent opportunity involved collaborating on multiple business cases for his Business Strategies for Global Financial Institutions course. In addition, he appreciates how the school’s faculty are both scholars and practitioners, who are able to share invaluable insights from their decades of research and professional experiences.

This summer, Arthur is working as a strategy analyst summer intern at ByteDance in Beijing. After graduating, he is looking forward to further exploring the intersection of media and technology by working in strategic consulting or investment research. Eventually, Arthur hopes to found his own company with entrepreneurs across cultures to help the world better understand each other by using the skills and expertise he has gained through SAIS.
