Continued Support to SAIS-CARI from the Carnegie Corporation of New York

The China-Africa Research Initiative (SAIS-CARI) at the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) is pleased to announce it has received a generous new two-year grant from the Carnegie Corporation of New York. Under the leadership of Prof. Deborah Bräutigam, SAIS-CARI's director, this continued funding will allow the initiative to continue producing cutting-edge research on China's role in Africa and reinforce SAIS-CARI's position as a go-to reference on related issues.
Thanks to Carnegie's prolonged support, the initiative aims to:
- Support field research that sheds light on important and controversial China-Africa issues;
- Strengthen its digital database, using the SAIS-CARI website to make data yet more accessible and interactive;
- Build an informed dialogue between academia and Washington's policy community through SAIS-CARI events;
- Promote the rapid dissemination of policy-relevant research findings;
- Help current and future thought leaders and academics bridge the gap between research and policy.
SAIS-CARI appreciates the Carnegie Corporation of New York for its past support and ongoing partnership, and looks forward to this continued collaboration.

The SAIS China Africa Research Initiative (SAIS-CARI) was launched in 2014 at the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) to promote evidence-based understanding of the relations between China and African countries through high quality data collection, field research, conferences, and collaboration.
The mission of SAIS-CARI is promoting research, conducting evidence-based analysis, fostering collaboration, and training future leaders to better understand the economic and political dimensions of China-Africa relations and their implications for human security and global development.
