Tanvi Madhusudanan
Master of Arts ’17
Conflict Management

After graduating from Knox College in 2013, Tanvi joined the Peace Corps and served in the Republic of Moldova where she was an English Education volunteer. She taught English to Moldovan school students and organized seminars for Moldovan educators and students. Working in international development inspired Tanvi to pursue a master’s degree in International Relations and continue to work toward her goal of becoming a Foreign Service Officer at the State Department. She decided to apply to Johns Hopkins SAIS for its experienced faculty, opportunities for professional experience and prestigious reputation.

Tanvi found out about her acceptance to Johns Hopkins SAIS while she was still in Moldova. After refreshing her email many times throughout the course of the day and being anxious about her application status for weeks, there was no better feeling than finding out that she had been accepted.

As an IR/Conflict Management concentrator, Tanvi has had the opportunity to participate in a research trip to study the post-conflict reconciliation process in Sri Lanka. She relished the opportunity to apply knowledge gained in class to contribute to the group’s final publication on policy recommendations for Sri Lanka.

This summer, Tanvi will be interning for the South and Central Asia Bureau at the US State Department.
