Economist Anne Krueger to Speak about World Bank, IMF

Anne O. Krueger, one of the world's leading scholars in the field of international economic policy, will deliver this year's annual Ernest Sturc Memorial Lecture at the Johns Hopkins University Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), on Thursday, 11/4/1998, at 6 p.m.

Krueger's lecture topic will be "Whither the World Bank and the IMF in the 21st Century?"

She is Stanford University's Herald and Carolyn Ritch Professor of Humanities and Sciences and director of Stanford's Center for Research on Economic Development and Policy Reform. Krueger's past positions include president of the American Economic Association and vice president of the World Bank.

The lecture, open to the public, will be held in Kenney Auditorium located on the first floor of the school's Nitze Building, 1740 Massachusetts Ave., N.W., Washington, D.C. Those members of the public interested in attending the lecture should call 202.663.5684.

In 1983, the family of Ernest Sturc established the Sturc Memorial Lecture in international economic relations as a tribute to his life and character. Sturc, for many years as a senior official at the International Monetary Fund, was widely admired and respected for his efforts to achieve peace and progress through international cooperation.
