An Enriching Education Both Inside and Outside the Classroom

Lindsay was attracted to Johns Hopkins SAIS due to its reputation as a top graduate program in international relations, its location in the heart of Washington, DC, and the quantitative and economic focus of the program. She was also drawn to the Latin American Studies Program’s
(LASP) many valuable opportunities such as study trips to the region and funded internship programs.

Prior to attending the school, Lindsay taught Spanish at Anacostia High School in Washington, DC through Teach for America.  She was also accepted into the Fulbright program, which afforded her the opportunity to teach English in Manizales, Colombia.

Outside of class, Lindsay is a member of the the school’s soccer team and serves as the Vice President of Conference Marketing for SAIS Global Women in Leadership (GWL), where she has assisted with organizing an annual conference. Last spring, Lindsay also participated in a LASP research trip to Colombia, where she met with leaders in the private sector, government, multilateral organizations, and non-profits in Colombia.

Lindsay has also taken advantage of the great career-advancing opportunities Washington, DC has to offer by interning with the Brazil Desk of the International Trade Administration at the United States Department of Commerce. At the same time, she also works as a student assistant in the Dean’s office, where she helps organizing high-level events with global leaders.

After graduating, Lindsay would like to apply her studies to analyzing the economic situations in other countries for either the government or the private sector.
