Experts available to discuss national elections in Pakistan

In advance of national elections in Pakistan on July 25, experts in Pakistan's political economy at the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) are available to discuss electoral prospects and implications for domestic and foreign policy.
 
Shamila Chaudhary is a Fellow at the Foreign Policy Institute and Senior Advisor to Dean Vali Nasr at Johns Hopkins SAIS. She is also a Senior South Asia Fellow at the Washington, D.C.-based New America think tank. Chaudhary specializes in U.S. counterterrorism and national security issues, U.S.-Pakistan relations, Pakistan internal politics, and regional issues in South Asia. She served twelve years in the U.S. government, including at the Obama Administration White House National Security Council and on the staff of Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
 
Daniel Markey is Senior Research Professor in International Relations and Academic Director of the Master of Arts in Global Policy. He is the author of No Exit from Pakistan: America's Tortured Relationship with Islamabad (Cambridge University Press, 2013). From 2007 to 2015, Markey was senior fellow for India, Pakistan, and South Asia at the Council on Foreign Relations. He previously held the South Asia portfolio on the Secretary's Policy Planning Staff at the U.S. Department of State.
 
Joshua White is Associate Professor of the Practice of South Asia Studies and Fellow at the Edwin O. Reischauer Center for East Asia Studies at Johns Hopkins SAIS. He previously served at the White House as Senior Advisor and Director for South Asian Affairs at the National Security Council, where he staffed the President and National Security Advisor on the full range of South Asia policy issues pertaining to India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and the Indian subcontinent, and led efforts to integrate U.S. government policy planning across South and East Asia.
