A Focus on International Law

Namita Rajesh
MA ’17
International Law & Organizations
First Year: SAIS Europe
Prior to joining Johns Hopkins SAIS, Namita was an intern at the Indian Ministry of External Affairs. She decided to apply to the graduate program in International Law because of its reputation as one of the best programs for International Relations. The flexibility of the course structure, the renowned faculty and the large alumni network were also important factors in her decision. Moreover, she appreciated the unique opportunity to spend a year in Bologna at SAIS Europe in an extremely tight-knit student community.
Outside the classroom, Namita was the Bologna Representative and International Students’ Committee Chair on the Student Government Association. She also joined the school’s team at the Phillip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition. Johns Hopkins SAIS was the only non-law school competing, and the team advanced to the quarter-finals of the Mid-Atlantic Regionals. Namita was awarded the Seventh-Best Speaker Award in the region. Over spring break, she joined the International Law & Organizations briefings trip to the UN in New York.
After graduation, she plans to work on human rights issues either at a non-profit or in a multilateral organization.
