JHU SAIS to Hold Briefing on Free Trade of the Americas

The Johns Hopkins University Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) will conduct a briefing, "Whither the Free Trade Area of the Americas (FTAA)?" on Monday, 04/16 from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m.

This event, which is also open to the public, will serve as a briefing to members of the media on the eve of the Quebec City Summit addressing the future of the FTAA.

Panelists will include:

¨ Charles Doran, director of the SAIS Canadian Studies Program, discussing "The American and Canadian Agenda"

¨ Riordan Roett, director of the SAIS Western Hemisphere Program, discussing "Brazil: Which Strategy?"

¨ Sidney Weintraub, William E. Simon Chair in Political Economy at the Center for International & Strategic Studies (CSIS), discussing "What the FTAA Could Be"

¨ Carol Wise, assistant professor of the SAIS Western Hemisphere Program, discussing "The Latin American Agenda"

¨ Tamara Woroby, affiliated professor of the SAIS Western Hemisphere Program, discussing "Mexico, Immigration and NAFTA"

The briefing will be held in room 517 of the school's Nitze Building, 1740 Massachusetts Ave., N.W., Washington, D.C
