JHU SAIS to Hold Discussion on Conflict Intervention and Prevention
The Johns Hopkins University Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) will hold a forum, "Cowardly Lions: Missed Opportunities to Prevent Deadly Conflict and State Collapse," on Monday, 11/21 at 5:30 p.m.
This is the next event of the "SAIS Faculty Book Series" which will feature a discussion of Cowardly Lions: Missed Opportunities to Prevent Deadly Conflict and State Collapse, a book written by I. William Zartman, director of the SAIS Conflict Management Program, recently published by Lynne Rienner Publishers.
Zartman will make some introductory remarks, followed by a panel discussion about the book. Panelists include:
- Herman J. Cohen, former assistant secretary of State for Africa (1989-93)
- Michael Mandelbaum (moderator), director of the SAIS American Foreign Policy Program
- General William L. Nash, director of the Center for Preventive Action at the Council on Foreign Relations
- Ruth Wedgwood, director of the SAIS International Law and Organization Program
The event, free and open to the public, will be held in the first-floor auditorium of the school's Rome Building, located at 1619 Massachusetts Ave., N.W., Washington, D.C.
