JHU SAIS to Host Conference on the Geneva Initiative: A Possible Solution to the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict
The Johns Hopkins Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) will host a daylong conference, "The Geneva Initiative: A Possible Solution to the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict?" on Tuesday, 02/10 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The conference is sponsored by the Swiss Foundation for World Affairs at SAIS. Panelists will focus on the origins, the content and the objectives of the "Geneva Initiative;" how it relates to the Roadmap to Peace and the two-state solution; and how the different initiatives can lead to peace in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
The conference will include the following sessions. A complete agenda is below.
9 a.m. - Introduction
9:15 a.m. - Opening Remarks: "Why Geneva, Why Now?" by Amnon Lipkin-Shahak, member of the Israeli delegation to the Geneva Initiative, and Nabil Amr, member of the Palestinian delegation to the Geneva Initiative
9:30 a.m. - Panel 1: "Geneva, the Roadmap to Peace and the Two-State Solution"
11:15 a.m. - Panel 2: "Talking Peace: The Impact of a Private Initiative on the Public Debate"
1:15 p.m. - Panel 3: "The Road to Peace"
2:30 p.m. - Concluding Remarks
