JHU SAIS to Host Forum on Foreign Policy Challenges for Next U.S. Administration

As part of its 60th anniversary celebration, the Johns Hopkins Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) will host an academic convocation, "Foreign Policy Challenges for the Next U.S. Administration," on Wednesday, 10/13 from 1 to 4 p.m.

The forum will include two discussions featuring SAIS faculty as panelists.

Panel 1: "Pressing Foreign Policy Issues"

· Eliot Cohen, director of the Merrill Center for Strategic Studies, on "Defense Posture Post-Iraq"

· Isaiah Frank, William L. Clayton Professor of International Economics, on "International Economy"

· Francis Fukuyama (moderator), Bernard L. Schwartz Professor of International Political Economy, on "Nation Building"

· Ruth Wedgwood, director of the International Law and Organization Program, on "Human Rights and International Law"

Panel 2: "Regional Hot Spots"

· Sunil Khilnani, director of the South Asia Studies Program

· David M. Lampton (moderator), director of the China Studies Program and dean of faculty

· Camille Pecastaing, assistant professor of Middle East studies

· Riordan Roett, director of Western Hemisphere Studies

Admittance to the convocation is by invitation only. However, the forum is open to the media for coverage.
