JHU SAIS to Host Two-Day Conference on Post-Crisis Malaysia

The Johns Hopkins Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) will hold a two-day conference, "Post-Crisis Malaysia: The Political and Economic Aftermath," on Thursday, 11/8 and Friday, 11/9.

This conference, hosted by the SAIS Southeast Asia Studies Program, will examine Malaysia in the wake of the 1997 financial crisis, and the subsequent political crisis between Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad and his former Deputy Anwar Ibrahim. Drawing on experts and practitioners from both countries, the conference assesses the effects of the financial crisis on Malaysian politics, the business climate, and U.S.-Malaysia relations. Special attention will also center on developments since 09/11.

The following topics will be discussed during a series of panel discussions.

Thursday, 11/8
