Participants will view two exhibits: “In the Groove” and “Harlem Heroes.” followed by a talk with Dr. Walter Evans, noted collector of African American art and artifacts. Dr. Evans will share his insights into the contributions to American culture by icons such as W.E.B. DuBois, Bessie Smith, Ella Fitzgerald and more.

A chronicle of the tumultuous three-month period in 1965, when Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. led a dangerous campaign to secure equal voting rights in the face of violent opposition.
