Johns Hopkins SAIS expert available to discuss the global economy and emerging markets

As business and finance leaders convene in Washington, D.C. this week for the annual conference of the IMF and World Bank, Afshin Molavi, Senior Fellow at the Foreign Policy Institute and Co-Director of the emerge85 Lab, is available to discuss the state of the global economy, with a focus on how emerging and developing economies are driving global recovery.
 
“Emerging markets and developing economies continue to see more than double the level of growth of advanced economies – according to the IMF’s just launched World Economic Outlook – and this trend will continue through 2018,” Molavi recently noted. “Like no other moment in modern history, the fate of our world economy is driven by the fate of emerging markets and developing countries.”
 
Molavi co-leads emerge85 Lab, an initiative dedicated to exploring rapid urbanization, growing middle classes, and unprecedented connectivity across Asia, Africa, Latin America and the Middle East – collectively home to 85% of the world’s population.
 
He has published op-eds and essays in The Washington Post, Foreign Policy, and The Hill, among others. He has also shared his expertise on The New Silk Road and the rise of Chinese tourists with BBC World News.
 
Molavi will be on-site at the World Bank and IMF meetings from October 12-15, and available to discuss:
