"The 2016 Presidential Election and U.S.-Japan Relations," a discussion on the impact of the U.S. presidential election results on U.S.-Japan relations, will be hosted at the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS). The event is presented by the Reischauer Center for East Asian Studies and the Japan Studies program at Johns Hopkins SAIS.

About the Speakers
Dr. Kent E. Calder is Director of the Reischauer Center for East Asian Studies and Academic Director of Asia Programs at Johns Hopkins SAIS. In 2014, he received the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Neck Ribbon from the Government of Japan. Before joining Johns Hopkins SAIS, Calder taught at Princeton University, Harvard University, and Seoul National University. He has served as Special Advisor to the U.S. Ambassador to Japan, Japan Chair at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, and as the first Executive Director of Harvard University’s Program on U.S.-Japan Relations.
Dr. William L. Brooks previously served as Chief of the Office of Translation and Media Analysis at the U.S. Embassy in Japan, responsible for analyzing Japanese media trends on U.S. interests. He also served twice as an economic officer at the U.S. Embassy in Tokyo, and as a senior research analyst at the State Department's Bureau of Intelligence and Research. Brooks earned a PhD from Columbia University. He has taught at Johns Hopkins SAIS and Kyung-Hee University in South Korea.
