Johns Hopkins SAIS to host “Afghanistan and the Asian Future” with Afghanistan's Ambassador to the U.S. on Nov. 2, 2016

"Afghanistan and the Asian Future" with His Excellency Ambassador Hamdullah Mohib, will be hosted at the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS). The event is part of the Edwin O. Reischauer Center for East Asian Studies Seminar Series.
Ambassador Mohib will consider the long-term potential of Afghanistan's development, with the support of Asian nations including Japan and South Korea, and cooperation with the United States. He will also discuss Afghanistan's recent efforts and achievements in transforming the country into a regional hub for energy and trade towards a more integrated and prosperous Eurasia.

About the Speaker
Hamdullah Mohib is the Ambassador of Afghanistan to the United States. Before being appointed ambassador, Dr. Mohib served as Deputy Chief of Staff to the President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan. During his tenure at the Presidential Palace, his role involved liaison with governmental counterparts and drafting of bilateral and multilateral agreements. Dr. Mohib also engaged in the substantive preparation and implementation of official presidential visits to Azerbaijan, Belgium, China, Germany, India, Iran, Nepal, Pakistan, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Turkmenistan, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom and the United States as part of the administration's strategy for geopolitical and economic integration. He holds a PhD and Bachelor's degree with honors from Brunel University in the United Kingdom.
