Johns Hopkins SAIS to host “China’s Move into the High-Income Category: Sectoral Productivity Growth and Structural Reform” with Min Zhu, former Deputy Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund, April 12 in Washington, DC

“China’s Move into the High-Income Category: Sectoral Productivity Growth and Structural Reform” with Min Zhu, former Deputy Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund and Chairman of the National Institute of Financial Research at Tsinghua University, will be hosted at the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS). The event is presented by the Dean's Forum.
 
During the event, Peter G. Peterson Distinguished Scholar at the Henry A. Kissinger Center for Global Affairs John Lipsky will moderate a discussion with Dr. Kim, which will examine the following: 

  • China’s standing in terms of sectoral productivity convergence
  • Productivity convergence in China’s major industrial and service sectors
  • Future sectoral shifts and their impact on aggregate productivity

About Min Zhu
Min Zhu served as Deputy Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund from 2011 to 2016. In January 2017 he was appointed the chairman of the National Institute of Financial Research at Tsinghua University. Dr. Zhu, a native of China, was a Deputy Governor of the People’s Bank of China from 2009 to 2010. Prior to his service at China’s central bank, he held various positions at the Bank of China and at the World Bank. He has taught economics at both Johns Hopkins University and Fudan University.
