Johns Hopkins SAIS to host the 2017 SAIS Global Women in Leadership Conference, “Securing A Sustainable Future: Women As Leaders in a Changing Climate,” on Friday, April 21, 2017

The 2017 SAIS Global Women in Leadership Conference, “Securing A Sustainable Future: Women As Leaders in a Changing Climate,” will be hosted at the Johns Hopkins University Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) on Friday, April 21, 2017.
The annual conference will feature keynote addresses from Rachel Kyte, Special Representative to the UN Secretary-General for Sustainable Energy for All, and Eleanor Blomstrom, co-director of the Women’s Environment & Development Organization.
The event also includes panels with experts from the World Bank, U.S. Forest Service, NAACP, World Resources Institute, International Union for the Conservation of Nature, International Center for Research on Women, Global Environment Facility, Global Health Corps, and more.
The experts will discuss a range of issues related to climate change, including:
- The specific ramifications of climate change on women
- New technological developments to mitigate the impacts of a changing climate
- Innovative ventures by women-led start-ups who work in sustainable development
- Funding opportunities for climate change solutions through entrepreneurship, innovation, and investment
- Workplace challenges such as establishing partnerships and managing evolving professional priorities

SAIS Global Women in Leadership (GWL) is a student-run career club at the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS). Founded in 2012, GWL has become an integral part of student life at the school and has helped inspire the creation of the SAIS Women’s Leadership Initiative comprising of GWL, the SAIS Women’s Alumni Association (SWAN), and an academic practicum for current students.
