Johns Hopkins SAIS to host discussion on new book, “Of Counsel: The Challenges of the Modi-Jaitley Economy,” with Arvind Subramanian, former government of India chief economic advisor, February 20 in Washington, DC

The South Asia Studies program of The Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) will host Arvind Subramanian, former government of India chief economic advisor and nonresident senior fellow at the Peterson Institute for International Economics, as he discusses his new book, “Of Counsel: The Challenges of the Modi-Jaitley Economy.”
 
Ed Luce, chief U.S. commentator for Financial Times, will join Subramanian to discuss the new book, triumphs and challenges of policymaking, and India’s economic potential, health, and future.

About the Speakers
Arvind Subramanian is nonresident senior fellow at the Peterson Institute for International Economics and a visiting lecturer in public policy at Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government. He rejoined PIIE in August 2018, following his service as the chief economic advisor to the government of India since October 2014. He previously joined PIIE in 2007 and in 2013 was designated as its Dennis Weatherstone Senior Fellow. He also served as senior fellow at the Center for Global Development.
 
Edward Luce is the Washington columnist and commentator for the Financial Times. He writes a weekly column, Financial Times’ leaders/editorials on American politics and the economy and other articles.
