Johns Hopkins SAIS Jessup International Law Moot Court Team Reaches Quarterfinals

On February 16-19, 2017 the Johns Hopkins SAIS Jessup International Law Moot Court Team competed in the Mid-Atlantic Regional Round of the Jessup Competition at George Washington University, and reached the quarterfinals. Johns Hopkins SAIS was the only non-law school in the competition.

In addition, the school’s team won 7th place for best memorial and Namita Rajesh, MA ‘17 won 7th place for best oralist. An honorable mention went to Annelotte Jens, MA ‘17 who was the highest scoring oralist in a single round.

This year’s theme presented questions about transboundary aquifers, protection of cultural property, basic human rights including the rights to food and water, and what happens when arguable violations of those rights generate migrant outflows. This is the 27th year that the school has participated in Jessup, and the 27th year that Professor Steven Schneebaum has coached the team.
