Johns Hopkins SAIS names Nina Hall Assistant Professor of International Relations
The Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) has named Nina Hall Assistant Professor of International Relations.
“We are delighted to be welcoming Dr. Nina Hall as our Assistant Professor of International Relations this fall,” said Michael G. Plummer, SAIS Europe Director and ENI Professor of International Economics. “Nina’s research agenda is broad, multi-disciplinary and exciting, varying from global refugee and migration governance to climate change adaptation. She is an excellent addition to our resident faculty.”
Before joining SAIS Europe, Hall was a lecturer in global governance at the Hertie School of Governance in Berlin, Germany. She is currently researching how international advocacy is changing in the digital era. Her areas of expertise include international organizations, transnational advocacy, global refugee and migration governance, and climate change adaptation.
Hall has worked with the World Economic Forum, the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, UNICEF Nepal, and the United Nations Secretariat.
She is the author of Displacement, Development and Climate Change, International Organizations Moving Beyond Their Mandates (Routledge, 2016) and a contributor to Fair Borders? Migration Policy in the Twenty-First Century (BWB Texts, 2017). She has also written for journals Global Environmental Politics, Global Governance, the European Journal of International Relations, and International Environmental Agreements: Politics, Law and Economics, as well as media outlets including The Guardian and Die Zeit.
Hall holds a DPhil (PhD) in International Relations from the University of Oxford in England, where she was a Rhodes Scholar, and a Master’s Degree from the University of Auckland in New Zealand.

Approximately half of the incoming class at SAIS chooses to begin the two-year Master of Arts degree at the SAIS Europe campus in Bologna. Cooperative degree programs with European universities and a 13-month Master of Arts in Global Risk provide additional opportunities to study at SAIS Europe. SAIS Europe is also certified by the European Union (EU) as “a private entity, non-profit and research as well as Higher or Secondary Education Establishment.” As such, the school is eligible for partnership in collaborative research projects funded by the EU and able to host external scholars through the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions.
