"China’s Role in the Middle East," a conference to shed light on a critical and under-studied issue, will be hosted at the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) in partnership with the Institute of Current World Affairs.
Chinese President Xi Jinping visited Iran, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt at the beginning of 2016, signaling Beijing's new level of engagement with the Middle East. But what are Beijing's goals and how does it aim to achieve them?
Focusing on the security and soft-power dimension, as well as energy and infrastructure, the Institute of Current World Affairs and China Studies Program at Johns Hopkins SAIS will bring together leading experts to discuss China's evolving relationship with the Middle East.
