Johns Hopkins SAIS Welcomes New Director of Admissions in Washington, DC

Johns Hopkins SAIS is excited to welcome Karen Ohen as the new Director of Admissions based in Washington, DC. Prior to joining the school, Ohen was the Associate Director of Diversity Recruitment at the University of Virginia Darden School of Business. While at Darden, she developed and implemented a diversity recruitment strategy, yielding the highest percentage of students from a diverse background in the school’s history.

In just a few weeks on the job, Ohen already believes that the students at Johns Hopkins SAIS are uniquely positioned to make a global social impact and understands why the school has such a strong global reputation for developing versatile leaders. She has been impressed by the quality and breadth of the school’s faculty, enjoyed meeting students to better understand their motivations for pursing a graduate education, and is excited to work with a diverse and global team of admissions professionals.

“Johns Hopkins SAIS is strikingly unique with three global locations for our student body to study with purpose, and I’m honored to join this community,” said Ohen. “I look forward to working with my team to recruit and enroll the best globally diverse students who will be future leaders serving to make the world a better place.”

Ohen was born in Nigeria and grew up in the US and is pleased to see students representing more than 70 countries on campus. She plans to strengthen the use of, currents students, faculty, alumni and social media to help further connect with talented prospective students around the world. Ohen is also glad to be based in Washington, DC and finds the city to be an exciting hub of activity around international affairs.
