Johns Hopkins SAIS Welcomes New Faculty

We are pleased to welcome the following new experts this year:











Narges Bajoghli is Assistant Professor of Middle East Studies. She is an award-winning anthropologist, filmmaker, and writer. Her academic research focuses on the intersections of media, power, and military in Iran. Her forthcoming book, Anxieties of Power: Sustaining the Revolution in Iran, will be published by Stanford University Press in 2019. Bajoghli received her PhD in Socio-Cultural Anthropology from New York University.









Lieutenant General David W. Barno, USA (Ret.) is Visiting Professor of Strategic Studies and Senior Fellow of the Merrill Center for Strategic Studies. Barno completed a 30-year active duty Army career as the senior American commander responsible for overall coalition military leadership of the war in Afghanistan. A graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, he earned his master’s degree in National Security Studies from Georgetown University.
