Learning in the Heart of Washington, DC

Spencer Salibur
Master of Arts, ’17
International Development

On September 2, Spencer joined the school’s annual Day of Service as a team leader to incoming students, who participated in community service projects on the National Mall before the start of the fall semester. During a break, we had a chance to chat with Spencer and find out what brought her to the school.

Prior to attending the school, Spencer, a Pickering Fellow, studied international affairs and economics at Middlebury College, as well as interned at the US Embassy in Barbados.

After meeting an alumnus from Johns Hopkins SAIS, who talked to her about the school’s international economics curriculum, Spencer said she was convinced that it was the next step to working toward a career in the foreign service.

Spencer has really enjoyed studying at the epicenter of global policymaking in Washington, DC and has taken advantage of the school’s close proximity to the State Department and leading think tanks.
