Nobel Prize-Winning Economist Amartya Sen to Speak at JHU SAIS

Amartya Sen, Nobel Prize-winning economist and Harvard University's Lamont University Professor, will speak at a three-part lecture series at the Johns Hopkins Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) on Tuesday, 11/15, Wednesday, 11/16 and Thursday, 11/17 at 5:30 p.m.

Sen's overall topic will be "The Foundations of Democracy" during this next event of the Bernard L. Schwartz Forum on Constructive Capitalism. Francis Fukuyama, the Schwartz Professor of International Political Economy and director of the SAIS International Development Program, will moderate the sessions.

Below are the specific themes for each lecture:

11/15: "Ideas: Past and Present"

11/16: "Practice: Functions and Assessment"

11/17: "From the Local to the Global"
