Part of the Evolution or Revolution? series, with the Foreign Policy Institute

Kenneth M. Jacobs, CEO of Lazard
October 1, 2015

On October 1, Johns Hopkins SAIS and the Foreign Policy Institute (FPI) hosted an exciting conversation with Ken Jacobs, the Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of Lazard, moderated by FPI Senior Fellow Dr. John Lipsky.  Mr. Jacobs first introduced the history of Lazard and its major business engagements. Later he shared his insight on the changing global economic outlook since the financial crisis with a special discussion on the growth of Asian economies.

Jacobs had a surprisingly optimistic outlook on the future global economic and financial situation. He discussed a U.S.-led recovery from the financial crisis, pointing to how the United States has recovered more comprehensively compared to its European and Asian counterparts.  He also cited improvements in the healthcare industry as reasons for an optimistic macro-economic outlook. The Q&A session was engaging, covering questions from major world financial incidents and their impact. SAIS students and members of the SAIS community alike were thrilled to participate in such an intriguing event.
